About the artist

Andria Alex is a fine artist who focuses on seascapes and watery abstractions. Inspired by the vibrancy of the sea and natures’ exquisite colors and textures her works are in oils, acrylics, and mixed media. She can often be spotted painting “en plein air” around the Connecticut Shoreline.

In her spare time Andria is an arts advocate! She is a member of “Save the Sound”, and supports action in preservation of our shoreline wildlife and ecology. In 2012 she had the inspiration and worked tirelessly to bring the arts to her own community by founding the East Haddam Art League, in which she served as Founding President and several terms as Treasurer.  The group is celebrating 12 years in 2024 and is a strong and vibrant arts group! In 2011 Andria was nominated to create a large scale mural in downtown Hartford, CT that spanned several city blocks.  It was located at 101-111 Pearl St for about seven years and was created in order to combat “blight” that plagued the area.

Andria spent many years as a professional “Scenic Artist”, which is a stage set and backdrop painter. She was a Scenic Artist for LORT B theaters including Goodspeed Musicals and Hartford Stage Company, and the Charge Scenic Artist at TheaterWorks Hartford from 2006-2013. At this time, Andria works full time as Co-Owner & Marketing Director at Bongo Ron’s in Old Saybrook.

Andria is currently a member of The East Haddam Art League (founder), The Essex Art Association (former Council), and The Lyme Art Association.

She has a studio in Old Saybrook that is open by appointment. She continues to exhibit in galleries and hold “Open Studios” frequently at her studio, sign up for her email list for more info!
